The second round of the Norwegian Cup continues on Wednesday with 21 matches across the country. Several Eliteserien clubs travel to face lower-ranked opposition, while a number of local meetings give the home teams an opportunity to create one of the biggest results in their history.
The favourites should have too much quality in most of these matches, but rotation and difficult away grounds leave room for surprises.
Os prepare for the visit of Brann
Os produced a 2–0 victory over Lysekloster in the first round and have been rewarded with a home match against Brann.
The visitors began their cup campaign with a 4–0 win against Fyllingen and will be expected to produce another comfortable result. Os should offer a stronger test, particularly with the match being played at Kuventræ in front of a large home crowd.
Brann may rotate parts of their lineup, but the difference in quality remains considerable. Os must stay in the match during the opening stages and hope the pressure begins to build on their local rivals.
Rosenborg travel north to face Fløya
Rosenborg face a long trip to Tromsø for their second-round match against Fløya.
This is one of the biggest matches of the season for the hosts, who will have little pressure and plenty of motivation. Rosenborg will be expected to control possession, but an early goal could be important in preventing Fløya and the home support from growing into the game.
The visitors should advance, although a rotated Rosenborg team may need time to find its rhythm.
Trygg/Lade welcome Molde to Trondheim
Trygg/Lade have been handed a home match against Molde at Koteng Arena. The difference between the teams makes Molde clear favourites, but cup football gives the Trondheim side an opportunity to test themselves against one of Norway’s leading clubs.
Molde are likely to make several changes, giving players outside the regular starting lineup a chance to impress. Even with rotation, the visitors should create enough chances to take control.
For Trygg/Lade, keeping the score close for as long as possible will be the priority. An early Molde goal could quickly turn the match into a difficult evening.
Northern derby between Alta and Tromsø
Alta and Tromsø meet at SmartDok Arena in one of Wednesday’s most interesting regional matches.
Tromsø play at the higher level and will be expected to advance, but this is not a straightforward away assignment. Alta are accustomed to the conditions and will see the match as an opportunity to challenge their northern rivals in front of their own supporters.
The longer Alta remain level, the more uncomfortable the game could become for Tromsø.
Several local matches across the country
Wednesday also brings several matches between teams from the same region.
Levanger face Ranheim in Trøndelag, while Sandviken welcome Åsane and Bjarg take on Bryne in Western Norway. Vindbjart host Start in Agder, Notodden meet Odd in Telemark and Gamle Oslo face Lyn in the capital.
These are the matches where league position may matter less. The teams know each other, travelling distances are short and the home crowds will recognise the opportunity to knock out a local rival.

What can we expect on Wednesday?
The largest clubs should advance, but many are likely to rotate because of busy league schedules. That may give the underdogs a better chance of staying competitive, particularly during the opening stages.
Some matches could become one-sided if the favourites score early. Others, especially the local meetings, may remain close for much longer.
Os–Brann, Fløya–Rosenborg and Trygg/Lade–Molde bring major clubs to smaller grounds, while Alta–Tromsø, Vindbjart–Start and Notodden–Odd provide the local edge that makes the early rounds of the Norwegian Cup worth following.
With 21 matches taking place on the same day, Wednesday should produce plenty of goals, several big victories and perhaps one result few people see coming.
