B8 and Luminosity meet in the semi-final of Logitech G Play Connect 2026. The teams have already faced each other once during the tournament, with B8 winning a close game on Dust2. This time, a place in the final will be decided in a best-of-three series.

B8 went unbeaten in the group stage

B8 finished the group stage with five wins from five matches. The Ukrainian team defeated Metizport, GamerLegion, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Luminosity and M80 to secure a direct place in the semi-final.

Their 13–11 victory against Luminosity was the closest of those matches. B8 were pushed throughout Dust2 but managed to close the game after several strong individual rounds from npl and kensizor.

B8 also beat GamerLegion 13–6, NiP 13–9 and M80 13–9. Those results continued a strong period for the team, which has recently recorded best-of-three victories against BET-M, Inner Circle, Nuclear TigeRES and 1WIN.

The lineup has won ten of its last twelve matches. Its only defeats during that period came against 1WIN and Nemiga in the PGL Masters Bucharest qualifier.

Luminosity have impressed with their new lineup

Luminosity reached the semi-final after beating BBL 2–0 in the quarter-final. They controlled both maps and gave their opponents few opportunities to make the series competitive.

The international lineup also produced several good performances during the group stage. Luminosity beat Metizport 13–9, M80 13–4 and NiP 13–11, while losing against GamerLegion and B8.

Their victory against M80 was particularly impressive. Rainwaker and AZUWU both delivered strong performances as Luminosity controlled the match from the opening rounds.

The team has players from five different countries, with lux joined by AZUWU, Rainwaker, afro and yxngstxr. The individual quality is clear, but the lineup is still working towards the structure and consistency B8 already possess.

B8 should benefit from the best-of-three format

Luminosity showed in the group stage that they can challenge B8 on an individual map. Their first meeting was decided by only two rounds, and another competitive match should be expected.

The difference is that the semi-final will be played as a best-of-three. B8 have more experience together, a deeper map pool and a stronger recent record across full series.

B8 have looked comfortable on Ancient, Mirage and Cache during the tournament. Luminosity have played well on Nuke and Ancient, but matching B8 across two or three maps will be a more difficult challenge.

Luminosity have enough firepower to take a map if Rainwaker, AZUWU or afro start well. B8 have still shown more consistency throughout the tournament and should be better prepared for the pressure of a semi-final.

Verdict

Luminosity made B8 work for the victory when the teams met in the group stage, and the quarter-final win against BBL showed that the new lineup is beginning to find its rhythm.

B8 remain the stronger team. They won every match during the group stage, have already beaten Luminosity and possess more experience together in best-of-three series. Luminosity can keep the match competitive, but B8 should have enough quality across the map pool to secure their place in the final.
